Philippa Brück (*1993) lives and works in Leipzig. From 2023-2017 she studied scenic painting at the Dresden University of Fine Arts. After successfully completing her diploma, she continued her studies at the University of Applied Sciences in Hamburg, specialising in illustration with a focus on painting, supervised by Professor Christian Hahn.
Philippa Brück begann her painting training at the theater. The impressions and experiences she gathered in the painting rooms and during her studies characterise her pictorial worlds, in which not only size but also the consciously staged character and theatrical formal language play a central role. Her artistic expression is characterised by an expressive colour palette and the fusion of traditional and contemporary approaches. The central motif in Philippa Brück's works is nature. Fragments of plants and blossoms emerge to form sensuous symbioses, metamorphoses and transformations. It's all about transicion and change, a reality in flux. The dynamism not only captures the cycle of nature but at the same time has a digital effect - the new reality caught between 'analogue nature' and 'digital reality' which appears surreal. The organic formal language creates an associative space that invites the viewer to delve deeper into the visual language. Colours and forms are in a constant state of tension. Philippa Brück deals freely and assiciatively with the depiction of nature. The result is an expressive realisation that leads to a pictorial world of its own that seduces the viewers and captivates them with its dynamism.
